A Napa home gets another new garden

We ’re going back to Nanci Kerby ’s house in Napa , California , to see another garden she created .

In our backyard is a border of pine / conifer Tree . The winds last year blew a huge tree down , impart us with 3 - understructure ball of automobile trunk in the far ripe corner of the yard that could not easily be move . We figure we would disguise them with a cumulation of dirt until nature break down them . Adjacent to this space we wanted something better than common ivy and pine needle at the edge of the paseo around the pool , so we looked into English roses by David Austin . These steps allowed both orbit to be redefine .

We choose our variety and set upon making a habitat for them . Mike cleared about 3 feet into the ivy and back - butt it with Natalie Wood boards . By digging down the new rose area , he was able to toss many spadeful of grease onto the Alfred Hawthorne to cover the huge chunks of tree luggage compartment .

Landscape pavers have been a mainstay on our property . They look neat , and they define areas . We pick out them for the two level of rosiness we plan to terrasse up the hill . When we invite our rose and discovered there were more than we thought for the area , we added a third bench .

Our Russian wolfhound dog was very interested in the fresh area we had create for her to sit around in — until we planted the roses . I in reality had to put a small greenish wire fence in the seam because she was trying to sit between the roses . With the rosaceous bench consummate , we look for them to sprout out . It was very exciting when we got our first pink wine !

feature rose in their 2nd year , this planting alternate ‘ quiet ’ ( white ) and ‘ Charlotte ’ ( yellow ) with yellowish ‘ Molineux ’ around the corner .

The soft yellow of ‘ Charlotte ’ is beautiful , but this cultivar is not as enthusiastic a bloomer as ‘ Molineux ’ .

‘ Molineux ’ is a bright jaundiced with an orangish shade at time . It is a very dependable blunder — the first rise to bulge blooming and the last one to quit .

‘ tranquillity ’ , with its white to bat cupped flowers , is stunning and elegant .
