Six on Saturday. Blooming November.

The leaf are falling tight now and the days are getting shorter but the garden is full of colour . More and more nerines are blooming in the greenhouse and the chrysanthemums that I showed last week are in full bloom and others have joined the political party so the whole raised bed surrounding my winter garden has exploded in colour .

Elsewhere in the garden there are blooms from different seasons .This dwarf iris from the Gargano peninsula in Italy blooms in May but it often has another go afterwards in the season . This is the first clip I have seen it in November though . Iris bicapitatais such a treat small thing , it looks far too tenuous for November .

Salvias always front better and better as the season goes on . ThisSalvia microphylla‘Wild Watermelon ’ was planted last twelvemonth and hold up the winter to make a nice big plant life . It is one of my favourites as the efflorescence are so large and such a lovely undimmed pink .

I had forgotten I had planted this prettySaxifraga stolonifera . I love its starry pinkish flowers and it is a real bonus in a shady spot in the autumn garden .

For seasonal colouring material , the heart forge purple leafage ofCercis canadensis‘Forest Pansy ’ make a endearing presentation as they turn orange and scarlet . Today was a dismal sidereal day but in the sunshine they are quite magical .

I always get mad when my first snowdrops seem . Galanthus‘Barnes ’ always bloom in November but I was surprised to seeGalanthus‘Santa Claus ’ coming into bloom at the destruction of October ; as its name implies it usually appears at Christmas . ‘ Barnes ’ looks a bit pockmark in the photo but they are really raindrops .

Talking about early wintertime flowers , I do n’t acknowledge what thisHelleborus niger‘Jasper ’ is doing out so early . But I think it looks nice with the darkEuphorbia‘Miner ’s Merlin ’ . It is a pity that the gleaming white bloom are speckled with clay perhaps I should grow one in a batch in the greenhouse .

So there we have it . A quick Six on Saturday this workweek as time was limited . For more November blooms tally out Jim atGarden Ruminations . My bet is that he will have at least one gorgeousCamellia sasanquaon show . And it might be November , but I am sure there will be plenty of endearing flora to see from all the other SoSers round the humans .
