New plantings and thriving favorites
Today we ’re visiting with Lisa Chapman .
Hi from Waxhaw , North Carolina ( Zone 8a/7b ) . give thanks you for featuring me in the GPOD this pastNovember . It was absolutely the ripe early Christmas present.(SeeLisa ’s North Carolina Garden . )
I ’m sharing a few updated word picture of some novel thing grow in the garden . I ’ve done a quite a little of workplace in myrock gardenthis season , where I ’ve focused on incorporating a number ofdrought - tolerant plantsfor my mostly full - Dominicus garden .

My heel , affectionately nickname Canis Lupus Hortulus , is always quick to help oneself in the garden . Here she is observing a humblebee about theirises(Iris ensata‘Variegata ’ , Zones 4–9 ) on our pool deck .
In this garden the sword lily mix with ‘ Wildberry’heuchera(Heuchera‘Wildberry ’ , Zones 5–9 ) , dusty miller(Jacobaea maritima , Zones 7–10 ) , lantana(Lantanacamara , Zones 8–11 or as an one-year ) , and gomphrena(Gomphrenaglobosa , Zones 9–11 or as an yearly ) .
Here , plant are enjoying a rainwater exhibitioner on the backpatio . Pictured in the forefront areCaladium(Zones 9–11 or as a stamp bulb ) , blue star fern(Phlebodium aureum , Zones 8–12 ) , and the leaves of a potted red cabbage(Brassicaoleracea , yearly ) arrangement . In the back , a potager box of kale(Brassica oleracea , one-year ) , chives(Alliumschoenoprasum , Zones 3–9 ) , vinca(Catharanthusroseus , Zones 9–11 or as an annual),Dichondra(Zones 7–9 or as an annual),Petunia(Zones 10–11 or as an one-year ) , Japanese eggplant(Solanum melongena , Zones 10–11 or as an one-year ) , Persian shield(Strobilanthesdyeriana , Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) , dill(Anethumgraveolens , yearly ) , and a host of other plant tucked within . Pots offig(Ficus carica , Zones 7–10 ) , pomegranate(Punica granatum , zone 7–10 ) , and Olea europaea trees(Oleaeuropaea , Zones 8–10 ) line the patio neighboring to the box .

In my rock garden , drought - tolerantArtemisia(‘Powis Castle ’ and ‘ Silver Brocade ’ , Zones 4–9 ) direct contrast with ‘ Red Rombrero ’ coneflower(Echinacea‘Red Rombrero ’ , Zones 5–9 ) , over-embellished sage(Salviaofficinalis , Zones 4–10 ) , and the disruption of Mexican feather grass(Nassella tenuissima , Zones 6–10 ) .
Also in the rock garden are Spanish lavender(Lavandulastoechas , Zones 8–9 ) and ‘ Strawberry Sensation ’ yarrow(Achillea‘Strawberry Sensation ’ , Zones 4–9 ) . This yarrow has become a surprise ravisher !
Brazilian vervain(Verbenabonariensis , zone 7–10 or as an annual ) , with silvery ‘ Powis Castle’artemisia .

A newly break up garden fragrance of ‘ Jacob Cline’bee balm(Monarda‘Jacob Cline ’ , Zones 3–8 ) , veronica(Veronicaspicata , Zones 3–8 ) , mint(Mentha , zone 3–11 ) , and milfoil .
Mystic seriesdahlia(Dahlia × variabilis , Zones 8–11 or as a attender bulb )
Painted rexbegonia(Begoniahybrid , Zones 9–11 or as an annual )
