Recycling a glass table top into water wall

Since we sport Elayne Lansford ’s Bottle World and healing garden , many of you have ask how to make her unequalled piddle wall from a recycled table top .

If you missed the whole story , here ’s our garden sojourn , where Elayne found solace in originative energy during her struggle with breast Crab and husband John Villanaci ’s lung transplant .

The original urine wall birthed when Elayne snagged a glass table top at Goodwill for $ 25 . You could expend plexiglass or have a glass cutter skip one to a size you require . Hers is about 5/8 ” chummy ; you could go with something a bit thinner , but you desire it thick enough to be static .

First , they got an underground basin to hold the water and the pump . Elayne chose a   2 x 3 concrete mixing tubful that cost $ 30 at a box storage .

That evidence to be too modest for this large piece of glass .   They advance to a 3 x 5 concrete mixing tub from a concrete provider . You could also apply a pond liner or any upcycled basin that shows up curbside on bulky Methedrine days !

A disappearing fountain / stream basin has hinged grates on top . rather , Elayne and John used two sections of telegram shelving . The ends mould a manger for the glass . The 2nd ledge is on the left under the rock .

To keep the glass secure , a welder protagonist made anchors . If you ’re not lucky to have a friend like that , a welding store can do this .

Since the telegram shelving could sag under its rock ‘n’ roll sheathing , Elayne placed a large stone underneath each side .   At the end for the pump , they cut the wire to lift a section for upkeep when needed .

The first pattern inserted and clamped vinyl radical tube from the ticker into one goal   of the tobacco pipe .   They crest off the other end .

With the round purpose , though , they run for into uneven water system distribution . John notes that a square or orthogonal design would be easier .

But he and Elayne are all about challenges !   So , he ’s starting over . John is in experimentation way for hole sizing and space on   young 1/2″ soft copper tube . Like the first design , the holes for the water flow will only be in the subdivision that hugs the top of the glass .

This time , he ’s uniting two section of copper color tube with couplers to attach the water tube at the top for more even distribution . One option was 3/8″ clear vinyl group tube to the ticker . ( in reality , you would have another coupler here between the two for a cosy conniption ) .

In the end , they ’re plausibly going with a plane section of 3/8″ atomic number 29 for optical collection .

Note : The copper tube couplers will mean sweating and bonding .

To attach the fuzz tubing to the field glass , John will simply crimp fuzz clinch to secure it .

This is totally an experimentation for Elayne and John , and there are uncounted ways to do it . I ’d sleep together to see your inventive purpose !
