Plants & Design to Fall For
I love autumn , my favorite season , really . So do the bee that are abuzz about my descent asters .
This frostweed planted itself on a greenbelt fencing in a garden we beg last week . The home ’s leave this section to its own devices . I was n’t debauched enough to catch the bees and butterflies all over it .
Nearby , I spotted Abutilon palmeri and American beautyberry beyond where no irrigation buy at them . I do n’t make love if someone planted them long ago or birds look at on that job .

Then , in Weir , we tap a unseasoned family ’s prairie restitution where Monarch butterfly were all over native liatris .
Bees strike the goldenrod .
At Oak Hill Elementary , the buzz is about kids who planted this garden for birds , bees , and butterfly .

We were totally buzz to meetBarbara and Bobby Wright from Wright ’s Nurseryin Briggs , southwestward of Killeen .
They ’re an haven of native plant and very well adapted plants ! Here are just a few to add to your list . Wooly bee bush ( Aloysia macrostachya ) mold in various stain with low home ground to 4 - 5 ’ to attract bee . Deer resistant .
aboriginal tea bush ( Melochia tomentosa ) was a new one to us . This shrub to about 2 ’ likes sun in various soils . April to October flower appeal butterfly stroke .

Fragrant Nox blooming Berlandier ’s trumpets ( Acleisanthes obtusa ) flowers April to November in sunshine to part shade . Technically , it ’s a vine , though the Wrights have only seen it to about 2.5 feet spread and height .
Really , we are beyond lucky to have dedicate , intemperately - work people like Barbara and Bobby to spread out the good native word!Watch now .
And , we thank gardeners , like Amber Simon , for growing native plant like her recurrent Texas Star hibiscus , ourViewer Picture of the Week , blooming its head off in a container for now .

Now , do you ask an evergreen vine that does n’t take over the earthly concern ? ConsiderDaphne ’s Plant of the Week , Coral Banksia integrifolia ( Lonicera sempervirens ) that ’s a pal to hummingbirds , butterflies and bees .
At The Monument Café in Georgetown , it join crossvine and grapevine vine in a vivacious privacy screen .
Deer are n’t running around the street of Georgetown but in deer - bonnet , they will feed the flowers . On a high trellis or pergola that they ca n’t get to , the pollinators and hummingbird can dine without concern . line up out more .

As we ’re planting new trees , of course we require to mulch them . Doing it the wrong way , like this “ volcano ” mulch , can end their lives too presently .
Daphne explain whylarge established tree diagram can go without mulch , but illustrates coarse examples of technique we should avoid .
On circuit in San Antonio , play effervescent Ragna and Bob Hersey who changed their garden ’s viewpoint from its mundane wall - to - wall pot .

From no - perspective flatland , she and Bob built layers of dimension . deplorably , her roses give in to chilli thrips and she ’s replanted with succulents . That ’s the good affair about styling a design where we can make the inevitable plant changes .
And would n’t we all bonk a wizard way like this to wander ?
Along the way , Ragna tuck in discoveries .

The ultimate recycler , Ragna turn throwing away into enchanting garden art .
I LOVE this washing machine vat she snagged to turn into a container .
Beloved shells pick up by the sept over the years exhort this sweet speech pattern near the patio .

She did n’t pine away any time to claim this thrifty mirror and adorn its new aliveness with shells .
Meet Ragna & Bob and see the whole floor !
Thanks for stopping by ! See you next workweek , Linda
