A gardeners island oasis full of vibrant colors, container plantings, and eclectic garden art
Hi GPODers !
Today we ’re switching to island fourth dimension and natter Pamela Roats on Fidalgo Island in Washington . We ’ve find her garden a span of times in the past times , first when she was living in the nearby San Juan Islands ( A Plant Happy Climate ) and then again before long after she moved to her current home ( Pamela ’s New Garden on Fidalgo Island ) . locate in the Pacific Northwest , just a stone ’s throw from Canada , Fidalgo Island is not the tropical haven that the word “ island ” first brings to bear in mind , but Pamela is still capable to create a riotous landscape with the help of rafts and draw of pots .
My name is Pamela Roats . I garden on Fidalgo Island correctly next to the San Juan Islands in Washington State .

I have many containers in my garden . A lot of them frame a terrace and make an intimate and individual infinite for think about . I have tiffin and dinner party in the garden during the grand summer days .
I implant anything I like with lavender , rose , cosmos and fuchsia ’s to tie it all together . I also have maples and evergreen plant in pots . Most are vulgar plants from the northwest and I may contribute something strange if I see something I care . I plant in single pots of all kinds and in big planter box built in the garden . The good affair about pots is you could move around easy to highlight different areas . Trees in throne eventually go in the land around the property .
I add local garden art and flow lanterns with lights for evening ambiance . The Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree with the lanterns is an apple tree diagram , which has been on the prop for over 50 long time . The placement of this tree take in the garden limited .

Hope you enjoy the garden .
Some of the works : Love and Wishes ™ salvia(Salvia‘Ser - Wish ’ , Zones 9–11),‘Gartenmeister Bonstedt ’ fuchsia(Fuchsia‘Gartenmeister Bonstedt ’ , Zones 9–10),‘Elfin Gold ’ coreopsis(Coreopsisauriculata‘Elfin Gold ’ , zone 4–9),isis Fuchsia ( A fav ) , coral bells,‘Million Suns ’ sanvitalia(Sanvitaliaspeciosa‘Million Suns ’ , Zones 9–11),‘Tom Thumb ’ fuchsia(Fuchsia‘Tom Thumb ’ , Zones 7–9),Olivia Austin ® rose(Rosa‘AUSmixture ’ , Zones 5–11 ) .
Our first look at those incredible lanterns Pamela mentioned , and the particular apple tree that is a high spot of the garden . I ’m always extremely impressed by a garden that looks as beneficial at dark as it does during the solar day .

Pamela also does a star problem at connect her plants to the interior decoration and hardscaping in the garden . We ’ve already project the vehemence of red in the lantern above , but the blistering gloss musical theme continues in various elements seen below , and is chew over dead in the various tropical shades of this spectacular rose .
But it ’s not all just red ink , Orange , and yellow in Pamela ’s garden . Another fab rose variety is sporting more peachy - pink subtlety , but still complimented attractively by a red emphasis .
And our first taste of Pamela ’s rattling container . While many stress over their container combination and find out the stark pairing to engraft up , a individual plant in a beautiful Mary Jane should never be underestimate .

More pots and some of the vibrant garden art I mention above . From the enthralling selection of flora to the inspired color and decor choices , Pamela ’s personality and clear point of view are on display all over the garden .
Many shy away from burnished red and yellowness , but Pamela is n’t afraid of a bold focal stop . Lot of greenery from the various potted plants give the eyes somewhere cool to go under , while gratuitous works like that stunning ‘ Elfin Gold ’ tick-weed help tie it all together .
An adorable horticulture pal also approves of Pamela ’s work , particularly the spot of shade created from these gorgeous , towering lily .

While Pamela ’s eclectic taste is emphatically on presentation , there are mountain of very classical elements to her garden . From her erotic love of Hellenic flowers like rose and lilies , to this beautiful , floral garden moulding .
monitor that raised bed are n’t just for veggies ! The brilliant pink cosmos in this bed might not be nutritious , but are undoubtably delicious .
And on the opposite side of this sensational tree , small shade garden .

container bombastic , low , and everywhere in between ! I also make love the intermixture of industrial plant here , from annuals and perennials to various woodies and even a succulent tuck by in the downcast right corner . And , of course , the master of focal points has an unbelievable frog statue brings a little shine to the outer space .
So much garden ravisher packed into this space , a reliable conservator of plants and art !
Thanks so much for the update on your garden , Pamela ! No matter the temperatures , it ’s still a lush island oasis .
