Kleinia semperviva , also known asSenecio sempervivus , is a succulent shrub with a conspicuously egotistical base and prostrate , usually purplish stems that assume fleshy , flat leaves . It can grow up to 16 in ( 40 cm ) tall . The leaf are pallid bluish - green , somewhat flushed with purpleness , and covered in a powdery bloom .
