From cacti to gardenias
Today we ’re in Aiken , South Carolina , visiting with Johanna Smith .
loads of evergreen plant shrubs make for a landscape painting that looks good all year and require minimal work to maintain .
These thorny pear cacti(Opuntiasp . ) were begin from three pads from our Word in Georgia . We make up one’s mind that since the area is surrounded by two pines and an oak and is verydry , so we would give the desert look a slam . We actually have seven large cacti and are able to use the fruit to make jam and sangaree .

Ayuccajoins the cacti to impart to the desert look in this part of the garden .
This gardenia looked like a goner a couple of eld ago , but after a severe cutback it has been a nonstop bloomer .
Thishydrangea(Hydrangea macrophylla , Zones 6–10 ) is planted in acidic soil , so we get bloom in this racy people of colour .

This flagstone sitting field was create after a tulip poplar tree(Liriodendron tulipifera , Zones 4–9 ) was removed . We want to obliterate the shed and have a proficient view from the kitchen window .
