Last winter I scan about a garden in New York City that supply over 100 dissimilar crops for the restaurant locate next door .
What separates this garden from other gardens that grow fresh produce for restaurant is this one was planted entirely in Milk River crateful . About 3200 of them .

The 1 three-dimensional foot milk crates are the complete size for growing . Consider it another option for asquare - foot garden .
The crates are lined , take with grunge , planted and kept water with driplines . “ Milk River crateful Farmer ” say they can grow just about anything comestible ( except yield trees ) and the crates do work well on terrace , balcony , rooftops , and even park lots .
Those Milk River crate farmers inspired me to give it a try . I just happened to have an old plastic milk crate in the service department , as well as a few other supplying on hand .
