I had never canned a thing in my life-time ! I really did n’t have it away the great unwashed actually still did this . So trust me , when I went home to natter my parent one weekend last summertime I was dismayed that my mama was just about to begin the process .
So of course of instruction I want in on this awesomeness ! I remember as a kid , my mom and grandma always having canned tomatoes . But I had no approximation she was still doing it . Not to mention , she was n’t just give the axe tomatoes but was also make and canning HOMEMADE MARINARA SAUCE ! ! ! Jackpot !

I am not sure who was more excited , me or my mammy , that we were actually go to be cooking together in the kitchen .
She had just invite a gross ton , and I mean a ton of Lycopersicon esculentum from a class ally and said it would be enough to make enough marinara sauce to last throughout the year . Having three little ones , I jump on this . I mean what little child does n’t love spaghetti ? ! Not to mention how much money I would be saving by making my own .
So we began . First , we filled a heavy pot with urine , tally it to the stove and turned the passion on high . We start to add the tomatoes to the H2O as before long as the body of water began to churn . They hung out in the urine for about 30 seconds or as soon as the peel startle to peel away from the tomatoes .
This process continued until each love apple had been dunked in the simmering H2O bathroom . When they were remove from the water , we peeled the peel mightily off . It was so well-heeled and did n’t take any time at all . I know it sounds very time consuming and tedious , but it really was n’t .
The next footmark was the easy part . fox all the factor into a sight and let it simmer off . Just a few garlic Eugenia aromaticum , green toll peppers , onion and skinned love apple . Allow them to hang out for almost 2 hr .
Next , we ladled the mixture into a liquidiser and squeeze go and polish everything out . Once that step was pure we pelt the variety back into the pot and added some more yumminess , sugar and fresh St. Basil leaf to name a few . We allowed this to simmer for an additional 2 hour and then it was clip to begin the canning process .
First thing first , you must have some mason jars to can your dainty . We cleaned each jar and then this was the interesting part . We fill up a prominent goat god with piss and brought it to a boil . We added the jounce to the simmering weewee along with the lids and rings . They consume a boiling water bath for less then a hour . Why do this ? Well , you must get the jars to the same temperature as the marinara sauce . Or the jars will crack .
When the jar were bump off , we quick added the marinara sauce one jounce at a time and send the palpebra on top and tightened the hoop .
Then the astonishing part happened . We sit and waited for each shock to make a popping auditory sensation ! This is what insure the freshness and the power for the jars to hang out in your closet for foresightful periods of time without mar . It ’s sort of like a vacuum that sucks the insolence inside the jounce not allowing any bacteria to bankrupt your sauce .
This process not only created a delicious outcome , but it saved me a year worth of money on marinara sauce , not to mention the memories I made with my mom .
