More stunning plants and striking sculptures from New England’s largest botanical garden
glad Friday GPODers !
Last Friday we featured a guest post from our website editor program , Christine Alexander , showcasing some sensational scenery she captured atCoastal Maine Botanic Gardenduring a video shoot with CMBG ’s Horticultural DirectorAndy Brand(If you missed it , check Part 1 out here ) . Today we get to plunge into her 2d deal of photos , revealing more gorgeous plant combination as well as some truly unbelievable sculptures on showing . Here ’s a snippet of Christine ’s verbal description of this unbelievable public garden from last week :
The gardens were riotous , colorful , and gorgeous – even in late October . There are various areas of the botanic gardens , and I daresay you could pass a few twenty-four hour period research the extensive attribute . Andy end up pass on us an overview of a few of the most popular garden , include the garden of the five sensory faculty , the children ’s garden , and the garden on the gradient . The insights into how each of these garden were designed and maintained were many . Andy also offered ideas for how to bring some of what makes these gardens so special to your own garden and rest home . away from the garden themselves , there are many program for kids and adult alike , a annual native plant sale , and there are amazing statues including the immense trolls- the Guardians of the Seeds – designed by Danish creative person Thomas Dambo , which are so fun to search for . Each troll has an accompanying tale and message that Thomas Kyd and adults likewise will apprize !

Starting us off , another bottom utterly bursting with former - season color and interest , but not an orangish or yellow works in quite a little ! While the season is know for its more impassioned - colored plant , there are plenty of flowers and foliage in berry colours that are just as exciting .
Vanishing edges are a democratic lineament on high - end pools , but you do n’t see them as often in the garden . What an interesting feature of speech .
Yet , from another angle , this pool wait as wild and natural as any piss feature of speech with a small bubbling fountain can ! flux interesting design element with thick , naturalistic planting is a report you ’ll see throughout CMBG .

You ca n’t have a pool garden of this magnitude without a fair share of aquatic plants . A large cluster of lotus get to this pond even more lush .
A closer spirit at the green roof in the Bibby and Harold Alfond Children ’s Garden that wesaw in Part 1 last week .
While we ’ve seen a lot of flowers from the display ’s Christine capture , there was also plenty of foetid foliation to take in . This leopard plant foliage ( Ligulariadentata , Zones 3–8 ) is showing off all kinds of specter and tones in the previous season .

As I mentioned last hebdomad , artistic creation can be found around every recess at CMBG . Christine cite the famous Guardians of the Seeds troll sculptures in her verbal description on the top of the post , but several other sculpture are on permanent display throughout the various gardens . ‘Chiseled Glass Orb’by Henry Richardson can be seen above , which can look renovate due to refracted light bouncing off of each plate of glass .
Another continuation of what we saw last hebdomad , the endless flowers that were still in bloom . While some were surprising to see thriving so latterly in the time of year , others like thisJapanese anemone(Anemone hupehensisvar.japonica , Zones 3–9 ) were a conversant sight to see in the cool weather .
And last , but for certain not least , one of Thomas Dambo ’s unbelievable trolling sculptures that are their own tie to this amazing botanical garden . Each troll has a name and represents a different part of a tree , telling of the vital importance each component has to the tree as a whole and to the rest of the forest . The carving above is the “ untried ” of the trolls , Lilja typify prime and tells of the grandness of the coloring material and odor of heyday to draw in bee and butterflies . Learn more about the five trolling statues at CMBG here : gather Our Trolls .
