Nearly two decades in this garden
My name is Karen Squillacci , and I ’ve been garden in Southern New England since I was knee high to a grasshopper . My kinfolk dwell of a long line of avid gardeners who gracefully pass down so much of their knowledge to me . I have beenpropagating plantssince before high schoolhouse and quite a bit longer than it was fashionable to do so .
I have also been a ratifier toFine Gardeningfor many years . It has become a majuscule imagination and point of brainchild to me .
My holding dwell of 25 Acre , mostly wooded with walk lead . However , around 5 Akko makes up my garden and livelihood distance . I ’ve been garden in this location for almost 20 years . I am a backyard chicken farmer and apiarist as well . My garden are pesticide loose , and I usecompostmostly for enhancing the garden .

Here ’s thevegetable garden , with a pear tree and perennial growing in front of the fencing to attractpollinators .
To the left is our firepit garden , with astone wallI built with rocks collected on the property and Adirondack chair made by my husband . The orbit in front of the wall is fill withperennials .
This interesting careen is on top of the rampart . She is the shielder of my gardens .

The planters on the rampart are replete with New Guinea inpatients(Impatienshawkeri , Zones 9–11 or as an annual ) and caladiums(Caladiumhybrid , Zones 9–11 or as a tender bulb ) . Each was “ browsed ” by the localwildlifeshortly after this movie was taken .
The garden supports all types of wildlife , large and small . Here a small tree salientian has plant a place to rest .
Between the invest arena and potager garden , this beauty baby-sit . It is aboriginal passion fruit(Passifloraincarnata , Zones 5–9 ) . I love that it count exotic yet grow in my New England Zones 5–6 ( depending on the geographical zone single-valued function I await at ) garden and is threefold function beauty and fruiting !

Orange day lily , commonly refer to as “ Ditch Lily”(Hemerocallisfulva‘Flore Pleno ’ , Zones 3–9 ) because it is found on many roadsides , is prolific in my garden . Even withdeerand bunny browsing , it returns year after year .
Here , a lichen - cover rabbit statue gather into the garden blends nicely with leaves of the bellflower andfalse helianthus .
Thiswoodland gardenconsists of a potpourri of bush , perennials , and annuals that I employ to occupy in break and keep the scene colorful throughout the year . I practice chicken - feed base that have been cut to fit out as myhanging - basketliners .

I make love that not only are the garden colorful , but my harvests are as well .
