David Buckeridge has been elected as Chair of the Board at the crop research organization NIAB .
Dr. Buckeridge has 35 years of operable direction experience in the lifespan science and agribusiness industry . With a PhD in genetic science and plant sciences from the University of Wales , David began his career with AstraZeneca , spending 20 years in a variety of direction positions globally . After serving as Group CEO of Advanta BV , the large independent agronomic seed business in the earth at that time , David led its going from secret fairness possession and apprize on its successful initial public offer to the Native American stock grocery store in 2007 . after , he has played a senior advisory role to both strategical and fiscal investors in the life sciences and agribusiness , rivet on the operating and strategic provision vista of these industries . He has served as director and president of a range of society in the agribusiness , pharma , and public health industry and is currently Chair of the Board of Protealis and of Cycle Pharmaceuticals and an independent director of Velcourt Ltd.
David succeeds Jim Godfrey , who retired in November 2022 after chairing the NIAB Board for seven years and now takes a position on the Board of the National Institute of Agricultural Botany Trust .
announce the changes , NIAB chief administrator Professor Mario Caccamo said : “ Over the preceding 15 class , NIAB has more than trebled in size through investment in young scientific skills and partnership and increasing commercial-grade activity , and we are extremely thankful to Jim Godfrey for his livelihood and guidance throughout this period . I would also like to thank Steve Ellwood , who is a member of the NIAB Board and served as Chair from November 2022 until Dr. Buckeridge was in a office to take on the role . ”
Dr. David Buckeridge said : “ This is an exciting time for NIAB as the organization moves to the next step in the ambition to become an integrated research and cognition transferral hub for the entire crop improvement and yield pipeline , not just from a UK position but globally .
