Welcome to Day 2 in Beth ’s Zakrasek ’s garden in Cedar Rapids , Iowa . continue her story , she says,“For the first 15 years , I combat the cervid , cried when they ate my Funka , spray , used barrage - operated stakes that lightly shock their noses when they touch it , etc .
“ We finally determine to give up on horticulture or put up a cervid fence . We installed the deer fence ourselves and it was the topper thing we ever did ! ! ! We used black aluminium that looks like molded smoothing iron for the front areas that are seen from the street - it looks really great . For the rest of our property around the hill and in the back , we deploy the netting that is hardly visible at all , but keeps the cervid out .
“ Now , the only garden pest I must contend with is a very cute and furry woodchuck sept . We are desire to immobilise them and take them to the nature center a few miles from here . The Marmota monax have not been a trouble until this past summertime when we adjudicate to build up a raised garden for vegetable in the one country of the yard that baffle the most Sunday . We build a fine stone - surround garden , round in shape , with mat capstones all around that are just the good height to sit on . My married man was specially excited about this garden social system because he loves to grow edibles . We quickly found that the groundhogs also love those pabulum ! If our vegetable garden is successful this year , I will send photos of it . ”
