Bromeliads, cacti, and frogs—oh my!
Today we ’re in the Bay Area of California , visiting Anthony ’s beautiful collection of plants .
Thistradescantia(Tradescantia fluminensis‘Variegata ’ ) plump from a single stem to this in just a few month . Got ta love fast - grow , great - looking flora . This variety can be grown as a houseplant , used as an one-year , or grow outdoors class - around in climate without frost .
A beautiful bromeliad , Neoreglia odorata , produce its little depressed flower for the first meter . Bromeliads are usually grow for theirdramatic foliage , but the flowers can be moderately prissy as well .

One of Anthony’spitcher plants(Sarracenia leucophylla , Zones 6–8 ) got a little athirst for Halloween !
Here are some appendage of Anthony ’s bromeliad collection . Top left-hand : Vriesea‘Kent ’s Sunset ’ ( or peradventure ×Vrieslutheria‘Kent ’s Sunset ’ depending on which systematist you spill to ) . Bottom provide : Aechmea fosteriana‘Variegata ’ . rightfulness : Portea nana . Most bromeliads accommodate well to sprightliness as houseplants or to the open air in frost - free climates . They can even be used like summer annuals in colder climate , provided they are bring inside for the wintertime .
A simply stunning bromeliad : Neoregelia eleutheropetala . appear at those colour and that incredible leaf ! Most bromeliads are air plant , mean that in nature they live perch on the branches of tree diagram . Mounting them on a piece of wood is a way to mimic those conditions in cultivation .

So many beautiful bromeliads !
But it is n’t just bromeliads . This little pee snowflake(Nymphoides geminata , zone 8–11 ) grows a little like a weewee lily and produces these incredible laciniate , yellow flowers .
And cacti : Rebutia narvaecensisoutdoes itself when it comes to produce downlike , pinkish flower that bely its spiny nature .

From the vegetable garden follow this gorgeousartichoke .
Besides plant , other interesting thing live with Anthony , like these rather endearing short Australian Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree frog .
