The flowers of a mild-climate garden

Today ’s photos come from Angelys Nicolatos .

A pure snowy Oriental lily ( Liliumhybrid , Oriental group , Zones 4–9 ) flower in a cloud of yellow cosmos ( Cosmossulphureus , one-year ) . I love how the yellow - orange of the cosmos echoes the color of the pollen on the stamens on the lily .

A ruffled pink hibiscus ( Hibiscusrosa – sinensis , Zones 9–10 ) frames the prospect .

reddish - and - yellowblanket flower(Gaillardia , Zones 3–9 ) echo the red trimming around the windows . Gaillardia are perennials but can be scant lived . They ’ll last the tenacious if they are grown in full sunlight with unspoiled drainage .

Mandevilla(Zones 9–11 ) grows along a fencing . Mandevilla are often grown as annuals in cold climates , but if you need to try , you may overwinter them in a gay window , or force them to go torpid by keeping it very teetotal somewhere coolheaded ( like a basement ) . Or if you live on somewhere ardent , just enjoy their beautiful flowers ! Among the mandevilla here is a clump of dismal flowers from a plumbago vine ( Plumbagocapensis , zone 9–11 ) .

Angel ’s trumpet ( Brugmansia , Zones 8–11 ) dangles its fragrant flush .

A cluster of colorful caladium grows at the base of a bush . The leaf of caladium are brighter than most flowers . They spring up from incandescent lamp that can be overwintered indoors if you populate somewhere colder than Zone 9 . But if you live somewhere with coolheaded summers ( such as the Pacific Northwest ) , these rut - loving plants just wo n’t expand for you .
